I have been interested in clicker training for several years now.
It can still be quite a controversial topic, and popular source of debate in gundog training circles.
I do not use clicker techniques for all my gundog training activities but rather treat the clicker as a tool. And a very useful tool at that.
Some purist clicker trainers feel uncomfortable with this approach but I believe it is important to be honest. Not only about the benefits and potential of the clicker (which I still feel have not been fully explored in gundog training).
But also about the disadvantages and lack of provenance for clicker training as a viable technique for success in field trials.
The new resource page
I get asked a lot of questions about clicker training and a lot of people find this website by searching for clicker solutions to their problems. I have therefore set up a new Clicker Gundog resource page, which can be located via a link on the navbar at the top of the page.
I am going to be looking at some more uses for the clicker in gundog training over the next few weeks. Hope you find the articles helpful. Do post up if there are any specific issues you would like more information on.
